Communication Should Be Clear, Legible, and Accessible.

I am a Boise-based designer and systems specialist. I spent my last two years studying how the world communicates through design, and examining how our campus communicates with students. I specialize in taking complex guidelines and translating them into highly legible, functional assets for physical and digital channels.

Brand Steward

Why My Background Fits BSU Student Affairs:

  • Brand Compliance: I treat style guides as protective frameworks, not restrictions. I thrive in structured brand systems.
  • Prepress Precision: 20 years of preparing files for print vendors means zero wasted budget on bleed or color errors.
  • Digital Inclusion: Trained in modern WCAG standards. I design accessible layouts for *all* students.

Case Studies: Practical Design Execution

Instead of standard corporate NDAs, these three case studies demonstrate how I navigate physical layout, data systems, and community-facing messaging.

Physical Production

Hemingway Community Mural

A community-driven public artwork requiring tight spatial math, volunteer management, and structural safety guidelines.

BSU Alignment:

Proves the ability to manage large-scale graphic installations, coordinate stakeholders, and translate community goals into highly visible physical assets.

The Technical Process

1. Spatial Layout Grid System

Calculated custom dimensional grid structures to scale visual design assets across a large physical architecture safely, preventing distortional drift.

2. Stakeholder Collaboration

Navigated public safety requirements, materials guidelines, and school board administrative parameters seamlessly.

3. Durable Production Standards

Identified chemical, paint, and sealant substrates suitable for public safety and long-term architectural endurance.

Built-In Accessibility Ethics

How I Design for
Digital Inclusion & WCAG

In web development, accessibility can feel like complex code. In graphic design, accessibility is about **clear typography, intentional color contrast, and logical layout structures.**

To pass state audits, every visual card or digital flyer designed for student portals must follow strict rules. Use the interactive checker on the right to test how I balance BSU brand elements for safety.

My InDesign PDF Remediation Workflow:

  • Paragraph Styles explicitly mapped to Export Tags (H1, H2, P).
  • Articles Panel structured to lock in proper screen-reading order.
  • Alternative Text embedded into metadata for critical images.

*Note: Placing standard orange text directly over BSU royal blue yields a contrast ratio of 2.1:1, failing the WCAG standard. I actively guide departments toward high-contrast pairings (like white text on blue) to maintain brand beauty *and* state-mandated digital accessibility compliance.
