Daydreaming... where would we be without it?
It's that small amount of time when attention spans go right out the window, and into the imagination of the mind.
I find that my daydreaming occurs when I'm watching the sun.
Whether it's rising above the skyline, floating above head, or setting below the horizon.. it's a source of inspiration, and a source of thought.
Driving the same roads everyday quickly becomes mundane, passing the same monuments, the same buildings, the same lines on every street or highway.
But to me, a car ride can never be the same each time.
The sky is constantly changing.. painting itself over and over again each day.
For 15 minutes out of my day, worries leave me, cares leave me, and I lose myself.. focusing on the small pleasures that life provides.
Nobody stops to realize the power of the sun, or the unparallel dependency human beings have for it.
Every day it rises and falls.. each time with an explosion of color and emotions, yet it is the most silent thing in this world.
I suppose I look at the sun as a quiet friend.. something I can depend on for hope.. that the next day will come and go, no matter what happens in life.
I remember when I was a kid, either sitting in the backseat or the passenger seat, I would be drawn to power lines as we passed them in the car.
Watching the lines swoop down, then up again.. repeating a million times.
Sometimes the lines would jump across the street, or follow a different path to another power line pole.
Now when I look at power lines, I see them as a never ending source of power and communication.
Power line poles continue on into the distance, towering over highways, buildings, people, traffic.
They are an after thought in everyone's eyes.. people focus their eyes towards the ground when they walk, or on the bumper in front of them while driving.
When I'm driving home, I get to watch the sun fade and give way to the power lines.
Passing off the duty to give power to every living person.
But the emmense size of the sky never lets me forget what really gives me life.
It's always reminding me to appreciate my time here, and that tomorrow it'll be back to do the whole thing over again.
It's the 15 minutes of daydreaming everyday that keeps me normal.
