Poetry for my Sister's Birthday
Somewhere in the backyard of my imagination,
I remember sunsets and staying out until dark.
Running, playing, smiling, and laughing..
All of the things that I remember as a child.
Leaves come and go, with each passing season.
The trees once fruitful, bare no resemblance..
of the persons they once were.
But we all know..
..that come next spring, they'll all begin to grow.
The constant change of life's eb and flow..
the people we greet and will eventually lose in this world.
But you four people make up who I am,
you're the branches of my tree,
the roots to my stems..
of the entire garden that I keep around me,
to water and bring to life,
to see such a beautiful world..
day in, day out, day in.. day out.
This is my sister's birthday,
and a mighty fine 30 years it has been.
She will tell you, as much as me and Ry,
that our parents are the best parents in the world..
Throughout all the years of our lives..
I shit you not, and I say this straight...
you're the best friends a kid could ever make.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMY!!!
i love you all,
