The day they took the swingset away
It's a warm Saturday in November.. something that usually doesn't occur, but we'll let it slide this time anyway. What happens to a world without fun? What happens when a world turns eternally cold, like the deadest of winter? I'll tell you what happens. They take the swingset away from the park. They take the jungle gym and super long slides with a rail on top to do flips. They leave a bare landscape of nothing. The only recognition that one would receive that a playground once stood there, is the sign that says children under 7 should be supervised. I suppose it's a precaution, but thanks to the cold hard winter of our times, no more 7 year olds, no more 10 year olds, no more 3 year olds will get to play in the park. Even the trees have started to meander. Whispering Trails is turning into nothing but whispers of the people that once took a plot of farmland and turned it into a future development for families to thrive and grow. They forgot one thing, to ensure that the park never goes with the neighborhood. Along with the trees, the playground is now gone. As am I, to the cold winter of my heart where I'll be swinging into the heavens for as long as the sun is shining.
